The Netherlands Passes on Reggae Artist After Homophobic Performance

Sizzla Feature PhotoWell, it would seem the Netherlands wants nothing to do with Dancehall/Reggae star Sizzla or his homophobic rhymes.  It’s been reported that the artist has been banned from singing at the Melkweg festival in Amsterdam in March.  This comes on the heels of Sizzla’s anti-gay performance at Jamaica’s annual Sting event, a musical extravaganza that features the top performers from around the world (past lineups have included Wyclef Jean, 2 Chainz and Beenie Man).  Sting’s promoters have also severed ties with the artist and have made it clear that they will not tolerate nor promote homophobia in any form.  Here, here! That’s what we like to see! Granted, Jamaica and The Netherlands have a long way to go in securing human rights for all, but at least it’s a step in the right direction.  We’ll categorize this as an “A for Effort” moment and wait to see how it all pans out for the star.

  1. Jamaica s is a “small place” and has many problems it does not need already. This musician, is not at fault, it is the thinking method of the individual listeners, to decide if the works continue, not big-sister, big-mama, or big brother.

Netherlands are just trying to look good, because currently there is nothing wrong with the world, as a whole. All we have a bunch of natural disasters, and privacy, and policy disputes. Right now the world is really peaceful, when you look outside the box.

Nobody hates non-heterosexuals, it is just that sorta business is better left in privacy, like internet dating, or specialty clubs. Not on the streets, in front of children, and we are so blessed, to have freedom of the press, and freedom of expression. If it was not for that, then you wouldn’t be able to write about such things.

People just want their children to have children, and keep the family tree going. If your so angry about people protecting that, you might as well, be angry at all religious people. Some people are just so stupid, they need a push in the right direction. Again it is a small place, what do you expect?
